The crime rate is dropping in Japan, but media coverage of scary crimes seems to be at an all-time high. Today Asahi TV’s national news reported on a supermarket in Yamanashi Prefecture discovering knife slashes on 16 melons that had been on display in front of the store:I don’t know what to make of this.
