War on Child Porn in Japan?

Oh boy.
LDP moves to ban possession of child porn even if there is no intent to sell - Mainichi News
“When we drew up the original bill, we were aware of the need to outlaw simple possession of child porn images (without any intention of selling them), but the need has greatly increased as the Internet has spread,” said former Justice Minister Mayumi Moriyama, who heads the panel.
Juvenile abuse, kiddy porn victims hit record highs - Mainichi News
Arrests for child abuse cases last year rose marginally to be the highest ever on record, the National Police Agency said. And although arrests for incidents related to child pornography and juvenile prostitution declined in 2007, the number of child victims of pornography increased by 20.2 percent to 304.
The government seems intent to work in full force in eliminating “the bane of morality”. This won’t work, and will push the offended party underground.
Do you think their stance is not the right things to do? Would the move need some improvement?

I’ll take the outsiders’ point of view on this issue.
“Surely you don’t actually fap on illustrations/animations of children in sexually appeasing poses/behaviours. It does tell how much perverted you are, to have even a slight interest in such stuffs. Even though you might defend that the pictures/drawings are fictitious, the possibility of sliding down to real-world children is there. And we don’t want that possibility to happen.”
Discussing about “fictitious children in ero poses” is something that borders on the philosophical point of views. I take a conservative stance regarding loli-porn, because I hold the affirmed belief “that art imitates life, and vice versa.” I’m unsure if there exists some “ero loli” section in Akihabara, but I’ll not be surprised if there is. Perhaps if you are referring to the Prohibition-era US, then I see why we can never criminalize vices.

Harming children for sexual fetishes is wrong, no matter how you justify it.
It may keep people off the streets, but it harms the little ones.
Unfortunately, the only effective way to eradicate anything is to kill. Is anyone willing to kill for the sake of “morality”?

Personally, I think the possession and distribution of all child pornography should be legalized, while the PRODUCTION and SALE of all child pornography remains highly illegal.

yeah, but if possession and distribution are all legalized but production and sale remains illegal, how would one go about producing it in the first place then? those two contradict each other. let’s just ban all aspects of child porn and not hurt the kids, ok?

TP Says:
Ah I see.
By the way, is there a correlation between “fictitious/virtual depiction” and “real life simulation” of children in sexually appeasing poses/behaviours? Something tells me there is more to that than meets the eye.
DrmChsr0 Says:
The will to kill? In ancient times there was. Now, they are mere “unfortunate circumstances” in society today. Like isolated cases.
wunderboi Says:
My thoughts exactly. If there’s no channel of distribution, how will there be any production and possible monetary return?
IANAL, so I don’t know the gritty details regarding what aspect of the process is and should be “legal”.
wunderboi Says:
I’m sure there would be no social justice if that were to happen. There is no middle ground when it comes to that.

Times like this DrmChsr0 suggestion for the ‘will to kill’ actually make sense. Who knows, it might still exist in modern time…
