The Fandom and My State of Withdrawal.

Hey guys, remember this?
OK, I have to tell it all. Just so this nagging knock in my head would stop.
When I got started into anime, I was wide-eyed at what I saw. Here is a medium somewhat familiar to me, yet its range of plot points, characters, and stories are so diverse, they put live action to shame.
And so I dived in the fandom, engaging in random pep talk with fellow fans, discovering new wallpaper websites along the way, and at the same time catching up with titles I found worthy to watch, those that suck such that they needed a second opinion, and the few far and between golden opportunities that lie within the annals of the Internet.
And Here I Am. Nine years into the future. I felt as if I’ve seen everything the fandom has to offer. The drama, the hype, the obscure, and the somewhat-familiar-that-it-borders-on fail. Dragging myself further, and I would have become one of those shut-ins who prefer artificial females to flesh and blood.
Anyway, here I am declaring my departure from anime. BUT that doesn’t mean I’ll stop remembering those times. I’ll still be around, but in a more observational position. I would post then and there, but it won’t be on schedule unlike what I intended it to be when I first started delving into anime and blogging.
So see ya around, folks. Oh, and manga is more digestible to my time-stricken life.

Well, I wish you the best of luck with your time short life, and I know the feeling about needing to take a break from anime. I have been a fan since the early 80’s and have taken many breaks, some of them years long from anime fandom.
I started off just a fan and after a while ended up sitting around with other fans and a Japanese/English dictionary subtitling VHS tapes from Japan for anime club meetings (mid 80’s). Then I joined the army and lived in Korea for over two years. This caused a several year break from anime, but I was living in Asia.
Then I left the army and began my college life, I got a GF and we ran a VHS anime fansub distro for several years. When school ended I got a job and quite anime for several years.
Later I got back involved in fandom by helping run three college anime clubs, providing content and helping with scheduling, and so forth. After several years of this I got tired of squealing fan-girls and socially inept fan-boys. Hell, In a room full college girls most of these guys will end up going home to their hands before they ever get the courage to talk to the girl next to them. After this I took a four year break from anime, i did not stop watching anime I just stepped away from fandom.
Then I got back involved in anime with the blogging thing, but I still can’t get involved in the whole fandom thing anymore. With blogging I can devote enough time to anime and still balance it with work, relationships, and my other hobbies. But I can easily see letting this go to if my life becomes to hectic, after all anime supposed to be a hobby when it stops being enjoyable it becomes unpaid work.
Well, I’ll miss your interesting and intelligent commentary on anime and anime culture, good luck with new endeavors, and if you decide to come back I’ll read you posts.
