Tribute to a Legendary Idol

Idol Densetsu Eriko (TV) - Anime News Network

EDIT: I had to make my face and palm meet with a slap. According to my research this anime existed way back in 1989. I didn’t got my facts straight when I made this post, so my apologies.

So there’s a new anime being produced an anime already produced, about an idol so “legendary” she tells her tale of perseverance and aspiration to reach her dream.

Eriko Tamura is Kousuke Tamura, the chairman of Tamura Productions (reknown music company) and Minako Tamura’s (former famous idol singer) only daughter. Having talent for singing since birth, she has always loved her parent’s media world. Then one day tragedy strikes when her parents get into a horrible car accident, which kills her father and leaves her mother in coma. She is left in her father’s best friend, Mr. Uchida’s care. Now Eriko must take the path of singing, a path her parents did not want her to pursue. Then her uncle is out to destroy her career. But in spite of all the hardship, she becomes an idol and wins hearts all over Japan.
Oh, and here’s a side comment from the page:
Modeled after a real idol Eriko Tamura (田村 英里子).
Right now only one fansub group is on this: Next. Haven’t heard of them. Must be new.

Wonder how this’ll go. What do you think, guys? :\

And don’t forget that this is the Summer season.

Hello I am the founder of NeXT (translator as well). This show was originally supposed to be run by me in L-E but … sigh… fansub drama and so I formed a new group with my L-Eer friends (like a split) and decided to do Eriko there. So that’s how NeXT was founded. Nice story to tell but it’s sad so I won’t.

Thanks for writing about the show.

Ah, I see. Thanks for retelling the brief history of your “group” in your own words, Tsubasa. :)

And by L-E, you’re referring to Live-Evil, yes? I’m familiar with that fansubbing group, and I am surprised to hear that you guys are a “separate faction” (for a lack of a better term) of that group. :O

    Interesting. ^^

Well I still do the same amount of work for them I did before these stuff happened and still in good terms with most of the people. In fact, I will be starting a new project with L-E and finished one for them after I formed NeXT. Now I realize this was for the good as Eriko deserves special treatment that I could have never given to it with L-E. For example, read my articles and other stuff in the NeXT website in http://next.dogmatix.net and compare with the stuff that appears on L-E’s page (I used to work on L-E’s website myself before, made release posts for DAQ and Mami, wrote up their FAQ, etc.). Most people in NeXT are involved on a large scale in L-E projects. We’re still together, as for me, I am doing work for them but nothing else, that is a side role. Yes, there are people who completely left L-E and came to NeXT but negligible in number. :)

Ah I see. Well best of luck to your “faction”’s project. :)

Have your say.
