YouTube CEO Chad Hurley and Google CTO Steve Cen met with representatives of 23 Japanese copyright agencies in Tokyo on Tuesday, February 6th. Corporate lawyers were present as were members of the The Japanese Society of Rights of Authors and Composers (JASRAC) and The National Association of Commercial Broadcasters in Japan. Afterwards a large press conference was held, however, the Google and YouTube reps opted out of speaking at that event. YouTube has apparantly agreed to introducing a copyright warning message in Japanese on the site at this early stage. In addition, development of a new copyright management system will be undertaken in cooperation with Google. Regarding a request that users uploading content should register their home and name, YouTube told the group that might be difficult to implement and be effective. Satoyuki Uei of The National Association of Commercial Broadcasters in Japan described Hurley and Cen as gentlemen. The Japanese side seems to be not 100% pleased but has indicated there was no breakdown of negotiations from the meeting.

This is serious business. :V

Oh man, only 6 people (including myself) voted. Hmm, maybe I need a better poll than this one. More related to our interests. :S

An interesting thing to note is that familiarity with the choices affects the votes cast by the participants. For instance:

• The 1st option was drawn from the whole anime blog dorama started by another Filipino brethren, bluemist.
• The 2nd option was from the whole ordeal with ODEX cooperating with the local authorities to catch illegal downloaders, which turned out to be a misunderstanding.
• The 3rd option was inspired, I think, by the “anime is porn” issue that was discussed in Anime Nano Podcast last year, when I passenger’s belongings got inspected by airport security and (security) found BL manga.
• The 4th option? I have no idea, but revolving discussions in the IRC chan about 2ch getting shut down and the ensuing conversation that followed may have been the inspiration to include this one.
• The 5th option, I have no idea as well. Probably as to not appear biased towards the non-American readership.
• The last one is pretty much an open-ended decision. I suspect not only the nationalities listed above may cause blog dorama. The Chinese may be cited as an example.

So there you have it. Now that this is over, I can now focus on other posts at hand. Maybe an anime summary essay or a game review (like this one) might be next.

Guess I’m pretty much late in getting into the bandwagon. So this is what everyone was crazy about, is what I thought at first.

The whole “revolution against the system” plot was what drawn me into this series, which I initially dismissed as “another mecha show, but with Pizza Hut endorsing it”.

Since it was listed that CLAMP is in charge of the character designs, I was pretty much expecting the female characters to be drawn like Yuuko from xxxHolic, but with more realistic limb thickness and head:body:limb proportion. The only “complaint” I have is in the body department, and I think this is what drawn all those fanboys, with their camps set up (I see C.C. and Kallen camps, as well as the newly risen Viletta camp, and I roll my eyes in amusement).

Oh well, at least the story itself was kind of engaging to me. Can’t wait for what happens to the “rebellion”. ^^
