Men and Their Our Fighting Games
February 13th, 2007 at 1:39 pm (Games, Miscellaneous)
I think I mentioned this before on the #animeblogger IRC chan, possible with another gamer (haven’t chatted with Plutocrat/Michael, so he’s not who), weeks ago. I think I need to express how awesome this game is. I’m hooked, really!.
The name of the game: Guardian Heroines Final. Like Kanon Air Smash (which obviously included characters from the two titles), this one add FSN to the mix.
The game is reminiscent of 2D fighting games, only with option of switching between fighting on the foreground and in the background. Kind of innovative, but not like its 3D counterpart.
Graphic is in sprites, so no Rin Tohsaka or Saber in HQ for me. =(
As for gameplay, the control seems loose, especially when you perform each character’s special moves (as well as their “super special moves”, as I’d like to call them.
) Thus, I’d end up in a pinch and not get out by utilizing them to my advantage.
Teamwork? Definitely a plus here, since I’m prone to getting ganged up by multiple opponents from all directions.
I get to assign a teammate to help me stall the opponents, while I prepare to unleash a devastating surprise powerful combination attack >:-D
Speaking of combination attacks, the status on the top screen determines the way you fight your opponents, like in RPG. HP is obviously your life, your MP is your special meter1 for special and “super special” moves. The 3rd meter, which I haven’t understood much, may refer to the number of instances you can use “super special” moves.
If you see different types of foods getting dropped during battle, get them! They help restore some HP/MP/”SP” lost by your character. Be alert, though, because your opponents/teammates can obtain them as well.
What else haven’t I talked about? Oh yeah. In the main menu, there are 3 different games modes: Sotry Mode, Versus/Team Mode, Solo/Team Practice Mode.
- Story Mode is pretty straightforward, (for those who’ve played the Tekken Story Mode, you’d know what I mean) so I’m not going to delve into it much, and is pretty much what I can gather (from the trial game).
- Challenge other players, COM or PLYR, in Versus Mode
- Get to perfect your tactics and skills either with or without a team in Practice Mode.
Well, that’s about it. The game can be found here.
1It is recoverable. I mentioned it because you have to stay still, away from your opponents, to let it recharge to max.

Play Eternal Fighter Zero! It’s relevant to today’s anime (has lots of Kanon and AIR characters), much more popular than Guardian Heroines, and there are a ton of youtube videos for you to gaze at. Play people online with the netplay app!

I tried Guardian Heroines, it was kinda meh. :V As for EFZ, I can’t really say much because I really suck at those. And my computer can’t handle it.

Well, I’ve already downloaded the game itself, and am still getting used to the controls. Especially the 1P directional buttons, since they are “embedded” within the alphanumeric keys. :\
Gameplay was like… those 2D fighting games I play on the PS2. I like.
I might write an entry about it if I have time to do so. I had fun with it as well.
