それは悲しくないか, Gin-chan?

Last Monday night, I watched the highly-anticipated Rozen Maiden Ouvertüre OVA. Even though I have seen the first two seasons, and have now watched this (approx.) 50-minute prequel twice in its entirety, there are still some gaps, questions, that were left unanswered in my mind.
We all knew that Suigintou was going to be the sinister nemesis/rival of Shinku some time in the future in the Alice Game. However, here is the question: She (Suigintou) considered herself to be the first of the Rozen Maidens (thus a marked target in the Alice Game; is a fact as well), but why did Shinku vehemently denied this? Why go through the trouble of taking care of here, even keeping knowledge of the Alice Game secret from her, in their first (I presume) encounter? Was this when she (Shinku) learned that Suigintou was the first doll, that she found crawling helplessly on the ground looking for “Father”, or when she was feeling for this one marionette who cannot move/function properly?
Also, what xxxverse (i.e. universe, multiverse, altiverse, etc.) was this set in? I’ve seen cameos of Barasuisho and Kana , as well as the infamous rabbit Laplace (not the mathematician) and “that Father’s apprentice” (for a lack of a better term).
So may questions to answer, and only those like these are left, but here’s the fundamental one: did Shinku cared for Suigintou as a “sister” or as a doll in distress?

oh, good question… I think Shinku didn’t care for Suigintou as a “sister” otherwise she would have recognized her as a legitimate Rozen Maiden adn cared for her differently. hmm… i guess maybe as a doll in distress then…. but not really since Suigintou wasn’t really asking for help. Shinku probably just felt sorry for her =/ that’s all just my own opinions, dunn~ ^_^;;;

Hmm, you raise a good point. Maybe Shinku intially saw Suigintou as someone who needed help, not as a potential competitor for the Alice Game. Thus, her decision to at least train her on how to be a “good” doll.
Then, as she is conflicted by her choice to help a possible Alice, by some sort of twist, she was viewed as someone who looks down on useless dolls, like what Suigintou perceived her to be (and thus her hatred).
