Anime Nano Podcast #9: Regulating Consumption in the Coming Season of Fall
October 3rd, 2006 at 12:43 pm (Miscellaneous, Take)
You know it’s kinda rare when I make posts like this, because it means less randomness in posting styles leads to consistency in blog content.
… oh wait, is it true? Dunno, don’t ask me, lol.
Anyway, I just listened to the 9th Anime Nano Podcast episode, and sad to say, there are a variety of Fall Season anime titles coming out. Some of them seem to be adaptations of shounen manga titles. And I despise such a genre, for anyone who knows me. So I’ll just whiz through the list to see if there are any interesting (to me) titles to watch this season.

First off, a show about bands. Nothing much to say about this one,at the moment, other than it might be a possible successor to last season’s Ouran (which I expect to end in a few episodes) given the reverse harem characters cast set. Who knows, this title’s already sold as a “romantic comedy”. Yes, it looks promising.
Yes, damnit! Finally our prayers have been answered. I opined before that the previous adaptation of Ken Akamatsu was an abysmal attempt to cash in on the quirks of each of Mahora’s middle school girls.
Suggestive innuendos aside (as shown from the preview clips I’ve seen), this one is a must watch.
Hmm, so this one will be like an anime adaptation of the American Freaky Friday movie, according to Hung. Sounds interesting, but I’ll pass.
Again, curse my anime immersion. Like the previous adaptation (I’m referring to the Negima anime), this one looks to be an improved version of the renai adaptation that sent the popularity of the “sad girl in snow” theme sky high. Despite my initial reluctance, I’ll watch this one as well.
Looks interesting, since the concept seems to be new (to me, at least). So this title’s status in my anime watch list is on a limbo.
There you have it. Only five at the moment, but look out for further developments. I might even change my mind and decide to eliminate a title or two from the current anime watch list.
Until then.

So I guessed that it would be like Freaky Friday. Apparently they switch ages, but not bodies. Chalk that up to sensationalist journalism. Or something.
Also, Sumomomo Momomo for the win.

I’ll definitely look forward to the reanimated version of KANON.
The old version is good too but seeing the revised one is intriguing.

[…] The thing is, with the way the series has gone, I feel like deleting the entire series and replacing it with something more “tasteful” (to me), and what better set of choices than the Fall Season of 2006. Yeah, I know I mentioned that there are a distasteful few shounen titles that I’d rather not touch with a 10-foot pole. But then again, through the wonders of Anime Nano (as well as reading the selection of anime blogs I’ve “favored“) I’ve come to the conclusion that what I have selected intially was only but the tip of the iceberg. There are still some gems hidden within the list, but those gems are the Flavor of the Season: Traps. […]
