Live Anime Theme Renditions on YouTube: Piano (Re-)Versions

The following will showcase various YouTube videos that feature solo instrumental renditions of anime and game themes. I enjoy some of the themes from Star Ocean 3, Rozen Maiden, Rozen Maiden Traumend, Tales of Legendia, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha, Blood+, and Megaman Legends, among others. For most of those who know me, I have a fascination with people who perform certain well-known themes, both from the anime and game worlds, on instruments other than the ones the musicians used when they performed the aforementioned themes. That’s why I was quite happy when I scoured some on YouTube and will gladly feature some of what I think are great interpretations of those I enjoy.

For those still running on dial-up connection, this is a word of warning. You’ll be better off with a faster connection if you want to watch the videos themselves. I share my sentiments with the prepaid variety. Now, direct your attention to links the clips below, since now I’m trying to help save eneryone’s bandwidth just from reading this entry.

Here’s a rendition of I Want to Change the World, one of the opening themes of Inuyasha by Rumiko TakahashiDon’t let the clip title confuse you. It’s kinda nice since it matches the flow of the theme itself well. Get LOL’d at the end, though. :P For those of you who still remember, this is someone else using a piano to recreate the melancholy opening of Ayashi no Ceres, from the same creator of Fushigi Yuugi. He really does know the piece very well, so it’s quite nostalgic while I was listening to it. The title says it all right here. Like the last one, this also carries a melancholic melody every time you hear it play on the series, as it’s one of the ED themes. I’m referring to the first one, by the way, and not the episodic spin-offs, Gunlock and Reload. Any Evangelion fans here? Well, here’s something for you. Pardon the somewhat speedier performance in the latter parts. That’s his (the guy who performed this) idea.

Notice that all of them are piano renditions. I’ll show the clips of some guitar rendions of anime themes next. That means some other time, not in the next few days as most of you might think.

…and here’s a random entry. Someone else performed one of Beethoven’s greatest masterpieces, Moonlight Sonata, on the same instrument where the Maestro himself performed it. On the piano.

How about the ones of Haruhi’s beginning and ending songs? Other than that, cool.

If I can find them somewhere (like on YouTube), I can include those as a bonus entry.

Thanks for the suggestion, and comment! :)

P.S.: Speaking of Haruhi, I found one YouTube video that featured a “side-by-side” comparison of the original opening with a parody featuring Gundams and PS1’s. It was really amusing, in a way.

[…] As promised from my earlier post, here are rendions of various themes from the anime and game world. As always I find these pleasurable to the ears, as evidenced by the persuasive power these melodies hold on to me. […]
