Back in the Groove of the Japanimation Scene

It’s been a hectic week for this lone vagabond blogger, so apologies for the inactivity. That and the recent storm that swept most of the metropolis and taken the residents (yes that includes me) literally by storm makes me one troubled anime blogger, fearing for his personal safety first and foremost. A lot of electric posts, telephone lines, pieces of roofs were toppled down. Even tall billboards were not spared from the wrath of the storm, so thus the delay.

These are the only Japanimation-related news I’ve picked up. Read the rest of this entry »

Live Anime Theme Renditions on YouTube: Guitar (Re-)Versions

As promised from my earlier post, here are rendions of various themes from the anime and game world. As always I find these pleasurable to the ears, as evidenced by the persuasive power these melodies hold on to me.

Now on to the post! Read the rest of this entry »

Yes, I’m still alive…

…and well, will live.

Ugh, I have poor organizational skills. I still have a lot of things to do, dammit. I keep telling that to myself.
Ahem.

Now that I got those out of my mind, it’s time to move on with the main point of this entry. Read the rest of this entry »

Decreased Posting Frequency

Tch. I knew it would happen sooner than I expected.

So basically, I’ll be attending the University starting next week, on a Monday. Which happens to be 9/11. WTC bombing. Subsequent crumbling ensues.

Updates with be more sporadic than usual, as my load of 17/18 course units would provide as evidence of its weight. Although this is the case, I may sneak a post or two on Fridays, as that is the only possible day I’ll be able to scour the Internet for any anime-related news and tidbits that may be of interest to my current readership.

So, until then, everyone! Wish me luck on my returning journey into the academic foray, with high hopes of getting a degree.

P.S.: No, I ain’t going on hiatus. I’ll just be posting less, that’s all.

Live Anime Theme Renditions on YouTube: Piano (Re-)Versions

The following will showcase various YouTube videos that feature solo instrumental renditions of anime and game themes. I enjoy some of the themes from Star Ocean 3, Rozen Maiden, Rozen Maiden Traumend, Tales of Legendia, Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha, Blood+, and Megaman Legends, among others. For most of those who know me, I have a fascination with people who perform certain well-known themes, both from the anime and game worlds, on instruments other than the ones the musicians used when they performed the aforementioned themes. That’s why I was quite happy when I scoured some on YouTube and will gladly feature some of what I think are great interpretations of those I enjoy.

For those still running on dial-up connection, this is a word of warning. You’ll be better off with a faster connection if you want to watch the videos themselves. I share my sentiments with the prepaid variety. Read the rest of this entry »

Paper Robots and A Planet’s Initiation…?

Otaku Art Turns National Craze - Wired News

What were the Land of Giant Robots and Monsters thinking, you ask?

Haha.

Well, who would’ve thought the Japanese themselves, who have used paper as an instrument of entertainment and creativity (i.e. origami), could have engineered another innovative application of the irreplaceable writing material?

In the spirit of Gundams, Mazingers, Voltes V’s and what not, here’s another form in which these mechanical contraptions seen in most mecha (and their mecha hybrid counterparts) could be found: as paper constructs.

Such unparalleled ingenuity, it may seem.

This brings back my memories of these “special prizes” found inside cereal boxes, where you have to cut them out and fold them in such a way as to make them stand or at least prop them on your bedroom study tables. Nostalgic times, indeed.

The blogosphere seems to be abuzz over this new development.

‘I dreamt of stars; I got a planet’ - UP Forums A Life of Learning - HerWord.com

Well, here’s another mind boggling piece of news. It looks like the astronomers who booted Pluto out of the Solar System seem to have found a likely replacement. Guess where they could have found it? It’s in between Mars and Jupiter! Remember the Kuiper Belt?

Now there’s a website honoring the naming, lol.

It’s too early to call it a “planet“, though, as it has to be universally recognized as such. Also, it’s still listed as an “asteroid”, according to Wikipedia. That’s why I took this with a grain of salt.

More buzz, as usual.
