Back to SlashDotting the Theme

No, it’s not about the change of seasons (anime seasons, for that matter). It’s only because I felt like choosing a new theme. The previous theme, kind of notebook-like, has been around for about… half a year or so, and I decided to change that, in a way.

Enjoy!… kinda.

Apology for Tardiness

I know, I know. It’s been a while, huh? Almost a week of no upcoming posts, and here I am kowtowing to the readership for not being on time.

And you might be wondering what the heck I’ve been up to these past couple of days. Well, here. Read the rest of this entry »

GunSmoke in MAME

I know I’m late, but…

I had to get this one out, as it made me drown into video game nostalgia again. :)

Also, because of this piece of amusing entry, my memory has been jacked up. Aah!

Hey, Jack! This is for you. :)

Graph PPP

Out of sheer curiosity, and from following the link trail from here , here and here, I decided to try out how results from Technorati are graphed.

The Graph

So it seems there’s a new service from Dapper that tracks blog popularity via Technorati. It’s called Blotter.

Innovative.

EDIT: Tweaked so that it would cover an entire week.

Bandai to Fansubbers: DO NOT TOUCH

Bandai: Do Not Fansub Ghost in the Shell Film - Anime News Network

I’m not sure if this is the first time distributors of anime and other forms of media have been sending warning messages towards fansubbers, but… oh wait, Media Factory has already.

Anyway, the world of fansubbers are sure to be abuzz of this latest piece of information. I just know it.

As for me, I’m not affected by it any other way. I don’t know about the fansubbers, though.

Will a forewarning work? Alvin and Calaggie seem to disagree.

They sure are serious, though.

“Fansubs, even those not sold for profit, are harmful to our properties and industry overall and we will be watching closely to make sure our rights regarding SSS are not infringed,” said Ken Iyadomi, President of Bandai Entertainment Inc. “We are prepared to take legal action against fansubbers and illegal download and other distribution sites if this notice is ignored,” he added.

Tsubaki’s Comiket 70 Game Offering: Ether Vapor v 1.04, Trial Version

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.

-Mark TwainAttempts at humor have been greatly exaggerated… by me. OK, I think I should just throw out any means to be funny, because for the most part, mine are lame.

…It’ll depend on whether I feel like so.

Contrary to current public perception, this is a post of praise, not of lampoon.

That aside, it’s time for the main point of this post: Ether Vapor

I Fail at Droning

EDIT: After a lot of thinking, link removed due to hasty judgment. Thanks, TJ.

So I’d take some time to reflect on what I just said regarding the role of the blogroll.

My take on the what a blogroll is was a result of my understanding on why some of the more successful anime bloggers have more web visitors than the newcomers. I get to see their visible site counters reach the hundred thousands, a few have somewhat astronomical figures. Also, a lot of revews are being generated on some of the posts of these “type” of bloggers. The more experienced, by the way, are what you see on the “Blognoscenti” section of my blogroll. As a result, I was a bit anxious.

OK.

I got a lot of responses from well-known anime bloggers on this issue. They gave me a bit of advice about how the blogroll# plays a semi-important role regarding their respective readership. Whether it’s “friendship and other factors”, it’s your dedication to expanding the web of the anime community that counts. Kudos to Hung and TJ Han for this. (^_^)

I got shot at as a Jason drone, and for the record, that’s an improbable truth. The guy just struck me as obnoxious, trying to flaunt his vast array of “expertise”, naming some celebrities here and there, as well as his favoritism and fetishism on things. So I hate him. (¬_¬)

Now that I got those off my chest, it’s back to immersion in awesomeness as I talk about my impression on Tsubaki’s Comiket 70 Game Review Offering, Ether Vapor next.#

#in trial mode
#itself an outdated term

P.S.: The Animeblogger Antenna can even archive then-public-now-private posts of mine. Oh shi- (O_O)

First Non Anime Wallpaper

I have now sported a non-anime-related wallpaper. For once. It’s eye candy for me, at least.

3D effects never cease to amaze me.

Blogroll Shuffle

I would like to explain myself right now.

Could I take this time to explain the suddent disappearance and reappearance of blog links on my blogroll? Apparently, some of you may notice how my blogroll on the left isn’t in the correct order (I was about to say “right”, then laugh. That was a lame joke on my part.), or how the sorting isn’t reflective of what I actually read or take notice, or maybe how blog links suddenly disappear since your last visit (I’m assuming there are any visitors to this blog of mine. Yes, I claim some sort of readership and/or fanbase around these parts.). ;)

Well, your question will be, or may be, answered if you’ll direct your attention to the post before you.

On Doijinshi, From Wired

I was going to comment more about the article itself, but it looks like Brigid, who runs MangaBlog, beat me to it.

Anyway, I guess it’s an interesting view on doujinshi from a tech-oriented site’s (possibly the author’s) point of view.

Interesting viewpoints to ponder:

I see a symbiotic relationship between commercialism and creativity in Japan. Any of the manga stores you walk into carries how-to manuals on drawing characters and using colors, as wells as picture books on medieval weaponry, French castles or samurai-era textiles. There are collectible figurines, but also dolls you can mod yourself, with whatever hair, eyes, clothes or breasts suit your imagination.
...when it comes to creating derivative works, the commercial comic and anime companies look the other way. As a result there's consumption, but there's creativity too.
EDIT: Included the link to the article for your personal perusal.
