Tsuruya-chan!

Since I watched Haruhu Suzumiya no Yuutsu, starting from the first episode1, I was transfixed at the lead heroine of the show, Haruhi Suzumiya herself. From there, I was carefully observing2 her slow personality development, from the tsuntsun (ever getting her way) to a more deredere personality (initially thought of as a complete 180 turn, but was proven wrong). I saw her more humane side, as someone who’s been wanting to make her life more exciting than it currently is.

In the background, there’s a very peculiar side characters who often makes her presence known. Characteristic of her is her infectious laugh, as well as her genki personality. In three episodes, we have been shown her mistakenly one-sided characterization. So far, however, she has become the next fan favorite, alongside Yuki and Haruhi herself. So who is she?

I started scouting through various anime blogs. From there I found out that she is an integral part of the entire cast of characters, despite her bit role in the series. Her prominent part is at the maid cafe, during the school festival, showing off her l33t saleslady skills.

Now who is she again?

She’s Tsuruya, Mikuru’s friend3, and a genki friend at that. She’s affectionately called Fang-tan4 by the anime bloggers.
